2iiZ knows 2D & 3D roto! Here at 2iiZ we don’t actually even think of it as roto but instead as “articulated animation”. We start by analyzing the shot and frame the arch of movement as you would in and traditional animation. We then create keys based on this to roughly frame the action and movement before moving onto in-betweens. This process allows for a minimum amount of keys and points for smooth fluid edges and easy manipulation later. All of our roto for 2D VFX work is articulate and segmented for piece work. We then provide our project files from Nuke, AE, Mocha or Silhouette for your ease of use. The detail is only limited by your project needs or budget.
We also specialize in creating roto for 3D that can be utilized through the entire conversion process, meaning they can be used for not only creating depth maps but also can be used or manipulated for use in the comp stage. We there is a difference between rotos used for 2D composting and 3D conversion. 3D roto requires typographical information for the different layers of depth required. The typographical detail or roto regions can be scaled or decreased to what ever detail you needed for your project or budget.
